The LEP Network has been providing support to LEPs and stakeholders since it was first established in 2011. Over this time the role of LEPs has developed and are seen as playing a critical role by Government to help deliver local economic growth as evidenced by the announcement of a £2bn Single Local Growth Fund by the Chancellor in the 2013 Spending Round. The current contract for providing the LEP Network service, facilitated by the British Chamber of Commerce, is coming to an end on 31st March 2014. (More information about the LEP Network can be found at: All 39 LEP Chairs have been working together to design the shape of a refreshed LEP Network service that will be available from 1st April 2014.

Going forward the refreshed service will be directed by a Management Board of LEP Chairs, chosen by LEP Chairs and acting on their behalf, supported by a team of staff led by a Chief Executive who will be seconded in. LEP Chairs want the refreshed service to be light touch, operating behind the scenes as a central “go to” point for general enquiries about LEPs and delivering support that adds value to all 39 LEPs.

The attached specification has more information about the refreshed service and LEP Chairs are interested in hearing from:

  • organisations who would like to act as an Accountable Body for the LEP Network;
  • providers who are interested in delivering services on behalf of the LEP Network.

Details about how to submit an expression of interest to provide either of the above are in the specification.

The Whitehall and Industry Group (WIG) are helping LEP Chairs by facilitating the applications for the team roles comprising: a seconded Chief Executive; a Head of Operations; a Communications Officer. For more information about these roles and how to apply please visit WIG’s website:
