• 2015 | November

    • BTVLEP were delighted with the announcement by Chancellor George Osborne, as part of the spending review, that the LEP successfully secured Enterprise Zone status for three strategic sites in the Aylesbury Vale area at Silverstone, Westcott Venture Park and Arla / Woodlands.
    • Chairman of BTVLEP, Alex Pratt OBE, stepped down following four years of economic success for the LEP to be replaced by Board member and Director of Corporate Affairs at Pinewood Group plc, Andrew M. Smith.

       
    • BTVLEP pleased to announce the completion of its first Growing Places Fund scheme, with the opening of a new car park in Exchange Street, Aylesbury, which is part of the Waterside North Masterplan, in addition to key development schemes coming to completion in Wycombe Town Centre.
    • At our recent BTVLEP Board meeting at the award winning University of Buckingham, we welcomed presentations from the UK Space Agency on their aspirations for the Westcott Venture Park and the University of Surrey for the opportunities to develop ground-breaking 5G innovation capacity in Buckinghamshire.
    • Our Growth Hub, Buckinghamshire Business First, hosted the Buckinghamshire Digital Summit, the first event to be hosted at the new University Campus Aylesbury Vale (UCAV).
    • BTVLEP has been working with the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, to promote available funding for the food and drink processing and tourism sectors across Buckinghamshire.
    • BTVLEP issued a £1.5million European Structural Investment Fund call for Innovation and incubation in the fields of life-science, advanced engineering, space and the digital economy, film, and TV and gaming.
    • Hosted UKTI creative industries showcase visit to Pinewood Studios and the National Film and TV School.

    • Successfully lobbied government to ensure that the East West Rail programme linking Aylesbury and Princes Risborough to Milton Keynes and Oxford remained in the current Network Rail programme.

    • BTVLEP were represented at the MIPIM conference - the UK’s premier investment event - attendance at the exhibition generating significant interest in development sites across Bucks.

    • BTVLEP has been working with the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund, to invest funding into local projects that help people into work, training and education.
    • £4m investment into the second phase of the BDUK Broadband Rollout has been commissioned and Chesham has become the first market town in England to provide comprehensive free wi-if throughout the town centre.
    • BTVLEP has added to its new Skills Hub by employing two Enterprise Coordinators to strengthen links between employers and educators.
    • BTVLEP present to Sports England proposals on a range of sports and recreational facilities for the Aylesbury Woodlands site.
  • 2015 | September

    • CEO speaks at the Thames Valley Property Forum.
    • Our European Investment Strategy and the European Structural Investment Fund have unlocked £11.3m of European Investment into the county, with the first two calls through this fund promoted this summer.
    • BTVLEP have launched an online skills hub, called Opportunities in Bucks,which will strengthen links between employers and educators in order to enable young people to become more work ready.
    • BTVLEP is working with partners from across the region to support the development of High Performance Technologies and Motorsport at Silverstone as part of a new study.

    • Nigel Milton, Director of External Affairs at Heathrow Airport, presented to the BTVLEP board the business opportunities for Buckinghamshire of the proposed expansion of Heathrow.

    • BTVLEP submitted an Enterprise Zone application for three sites in the north of Buckinghamshire - Silverstone Motor Racing Circuit, Westcott Venture Park and the Arla & Woodlands site in Aylesbury, to support over 8,600 new jobs and attract up to 260 new or expanded businesses in the county.  
    • Public consultation starts on a 6 mile Local Growth Fund sustainable transport corridor and cycleway between Buckingham and Winslow, and enabling works have commenced on the Stocklake Link Road in Aylesbury another major Local Growth Scheme.

    • Buckinghamshire Advantage, the delivery arm of BTVLEP, commenced public stakeholder engagement on the Aylesbury Woodlands project with two consultation events on 11 July at Anthony Hall, Aston Clinton and 17 July at Holiday Inn Aylesbury, Weston Turville, both of which were well attended and received.
    • Working with six other LEPS and UKTI to organise a major conference and international trade mission for the visit Driving Tech Change, ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
    • Our Connected Counties programme has now provided over 35,000 properties and businesses in Bucks with access to superfast broadband.
    • First BTVLEP Skills Board meeting held on 21 July, where the main focus was on the establishment of a Bucks Skills Hub where agencies will work together collaboratively on work related activities in education and training, to deliver a cohesive service to young people, parents and employers.

    • BTVLEP welcomes over 100 representatives from LEPs nationwide to Buckinghamshire as Pinewood hosts the UKTI Annual LEP Conference

    • Expansion to BTVLEP’s Growth Deal with the Government, will see an extra £8.8m invested in Bucks between 2016 and 2021 to boost our local plan for Buckinghamshire economy
    • Extra funding of more than £5 million, including our Growth Deal funding, to help extend Buckinghamshire's fibre broadband coverage to around 95% of the county

    • Welcomed the Rt. Hon. Greg Clark MP to Buckinghamshire to sign Local Growth Deal that will trigger £73m worth of investment in Bucks
    • International planning delegation, coordinated by BTVLEP, comes to Bucks to witness best practice in town regeneration, as part of the URBACT project
    • BTVLEP with our partner Buckinghamshire Business First, is supporting business to get online with the launch of the ‘Get Online, Trade Online’ (GO-TO) initiative
    • The LEP hosted a workshop bringing secondary schools heads and businesses together to develop the future skills delivery for young people in the county
